Dragon’s Dogma 2 is one of the biggest releases for PC and consoles in 2024, and the game presents a great challenge for current generation hardware. Running Capcom’s new title isn’t for every PC, so see how much you need to spend to have a good gameplay experience.
In this series of Voxel articles, we try to estimate a value of a good PC for at least 1080p and 60fps experience. In the case of Dragon’s Dogma 2, it is important to point out that It is practically impossible to play at 60 frames per second at all times due to high CPU load.
Even so, let’s aim for a PC that still delivers the best experience possible, still with a cost-benefit ratio in mind, and with better results than consoles. It is important to note, however, that the game may receive optimizations in the future.

How much does a PC cost to run Dragon’s Dogma 2?
Processor – Suggestion: Ryzen 5 5600
For this title, the processor is definitely the part that deserves the most attention. Dragon’s Dogma 2 is incredibly processor-heavyespecially when we consider performance in city.
The abundance and density of NPCs in this region makes the frame rate very unstable, making it almost impossible to run at 60fps without constant drops on basically any processor.
With an RTX 4070, the 5600X delivers almost 70fps average in the open world (expect similar results from the 5600)Source: PC Gamer
Despite this, the Ryzen 5 5600 should deliver frame rates at 60fps, or close to it, in external and less populated regions of the map, although it will suffer in the city (just like any other CPU).
In the city, the performance is completely differentSource: PC Gamer
This will be the recommendation of this article with cost and benefit in mind, but the more powerful the processor, the better.

Video card – Suggestion: RTX 4060
While the main concern is indeed the CPU, the game is also not that light on graphics when we set it to maximum. However, fortunately it is possible to optimize this with settings for high or medium quality on PC.
It is also worth remembering that the game has optional Ray Tracing effects for global illumination, which requires more than traditional lighting technologies.
For 1080p, or even higher resolutions using DLSS, I would list the RTX 3060. However, I end up choosing the RTX 4060 for two reasons. Firstly because the price of the two models is very close in the Brazilian market, and also because on the most recent board it is possible to use DLSS 3 Frame Generation.
The frame generation technology was not officially launched with Dragon’s Dogma 2, but the software does support DLSS 3, which can be accessed using a simple free mod to enable the option.
The difference between DLSS 3 and the frame generator is precisely that it can mgreatly mitigate processor limitations in frame production.

Motherboard – Suggestion: B550M
To choose a motherboard model, you need to pay attention to whether the socket is compatible with the processor, whether the memories are compatible and also other possible additional features that you want for your system.

There are several options on the market, but we leave an interesting intermediate recommendation for a computer with good value for money.
RAM memory
To run AAA games on PC in 2023, you need at least 16 GB of RAM, and Dragon’s Dogma 2 is no exception. Furthermore, The ideal is to use two 8 GB sticks to operate in Dual Channel, which allows better communication between this component and the processor.

Storage
Dragon’s Dogma 2 does not require the use of SSDs for storage, but as the price of these parts has become more affordable and brings a lot of speed to the entire system, it is worth the recommendation. Therefore, I recommend the Kingston NV2, specifically the affordable 1TB model.

This is one of the most popular SSDs in the NVMe PCIe Gen 4 format, with reasonable read and write speeds, ensuring an interesting value for money for games.
Power supply
To choose a power supply for any system, we need to check the power needed to power the PC and also ensure that the model has at least an 80 Plus seal.

Nvidia recommends a 650W power supply for the RTX 4070and you can find several of them at a good cost, like the one we are recommending for this article.
Monitor with VRR
It is not common for us to focus heavily on choosing monitors in this series of Voxel articles, especially because your preferences can vary greatly depending on the features you are looking for in the model. Be it the screen type, HDR or SDR, refresh rate, size, resolution and more.
However, as it is practically impossible to run Dragon’s Dogma 2 at a fixed frame rate, it is a great suggestion to look for a model with some VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) technology, such as the G-Sync or the FreeSync.

For this article, we chose a basic model, IPS, Full HD with a 144Hz refresh rate and FreeSync Premium technology.
What about other peripherals?
It is not so simple to recommend specific peripherals, as they depend a lot on personal taste and also on each user’s needs and budget.
Even so, we can still estimate the budget for these items by selecting some of the most popular models on the market.
This way, all peripherals add a value close to R$ 1,300 to the PC budget, including the monitor that was already mentioned.
Total PC cost to run Dragon’s Dogma 2
With the help of the MeuPC.net website to create a budget with all the desired parts, we can get a good idea of the price of the computer. Including all internal parts of the computer, with the casewe arrive at the final price of BRL 4,455.94.
Interestingly, it’s not a huge value for a PlayStation 5, but the experience with Dragon’s Dogma 2 should be much better than on consoles.
