If there’s one thing we watch out for on April 1st, it’s rumors and leaks. This type of content is already complicated to deal with on a daily basis due to its (lack of) veracity, but when the developers themselves join in the fun, that’s different. Let’s take a look at a few.

Social networks are already full of April 1st jokes by game studios themselves. These developer trolls promise new game modes, gadgets, physical version on floppy disk and much more.

Cyberpunk 2077 Floppy Edition

Floppy disks have not been used for decades. But if you’re interested in this version of Cyberpunk 2077, it’s a good idea to set aside a large space to store your more than 97 thousand 3.5 inch floppy disks. According to CDPR, it would take around 2 months to swap floppy disks during installation.

Baby, they shrunk me in Dead by Daylight

This is actually a real event in the game. The survivors were shrunk so that a giant (for them) Oni could crush them with a simple step.

Virtual reality on Nintendo Switch

Remember the Virtual Boy Pro, Nintendo’s failure in the 1990s? So, it’s returning, but this time for the Switch. Well, this troll is from IGN with Nintendo, of course.

The great expansion

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is one of the most anticipated games/expansions of 2024. Any official mention of Bandai Namco already makes fans tremble with anticipation, like, for example, just the logo expanding on the screen.

My name is…

Sifu is an out-of-the-box, challenging, unique game and the adjectives go a long way. Nobody knows the name of the protagonists and the game’s profile trolled fans by pretending to give hints about their real name.

Spencer Mansion at RE Engine

This doesn’t come from dev, but it’s an excellent idea. Have you ever thought about what the first Resident Evil remade in the RE Engine would be like? It would be, by far, the scariest game in the franchise. It arrives before RE9, hmm…

Come in hand!

How about using your hands in Naraka: Bladepoint? The “new weapon” promises to hold swords, grab enemies and use them as weapons and more. Look, the trailer is convincing, you see. Available April 1st.

The benefit of sleep

Sleeping well is a privilege for few. The Pokémon Company invested heavily to bring this topic into a 4-minute video. Who will be the master sleeper?

Yes, that is a gaming chair!

Have you ever thought about not having to leave your chair, because it feeds you, brushes your teeth, plays for you, gives you massages and a lot of other things? This is Razer Cthulhu’s proposal.

Helicopter is with Capcom. If you’ve played all the games in the Resident Evil franchise, you know that there’s always one of these aerial vehicles ready to rescue someone (or be destroyed). Book your ticket now.

Hedgehog Man

Sonic and humans only worked in the movies. But that should change now with Sonic Man, the human Sonic.

Depressive mode

Another Crab’s Treasure is a soulike that arrives this month, but it is very colorful and cheerful. Don’t worry, as the game will come with a depression mode, which practically changes the mood to something like Dark Souls, zero joy. Anor Londo and poisonous swamp are already guaranteed in the game.

fake snacks

Lies of P now has its own products for sale: potato chips, popcorn, pizza and even protein pills, all based on the game’s characters.

We have to catch it!

It’s not just Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth that has a Pokémon mode. Dying Light 2 is adding the feature to the game and the “pokéball” is a grenade. Captured a zombie? Now use it in a “zombie” battle.

That’s it? Not even! A quick walk through X/Twitter and you can find countless developer trolls this April 1st. But seriously, some ideas are cool and could be real, don’t you think?
