On April 30th, it debuted on the Netflix the film “Girls Don’t Cry”, an exciting plot that is attracting the streaming audience. Occupying sixth place in the Top 10 most watched films on the platform, the national drama has an interesting curiosity behind its plot, as it is a remake of another production.
In the story, we follow Pipa (Letícia Braga), a 16-year-old teenager who is going through a great time in her life, managing to stand out in women’s football and becoming one of the most popular girls in school. Everything falls apart when she is diagnosed with leukemia and has to undergo several tests, ending up in the hospital for a long time. Meanwhile, the film also shows how her family and friends dealt with this information, daily searching for a way to help her overcome this enormous challenge.
What movie inspired Girls Don’t Cry?
The national film was directed by Vivianne Jundi and is a remake of Dutch film “Game of Life”, 2012. In the film, we follow the trajectory of a tough girl named Akkie, who is also a star on the football team. Unlike the Brazilian adaptation, in the original work the main character has some relationship problems with the boy she is attracted to.
When she discovers that she has leukemia, she embarks on an intense fight for a cure, with the help of her parents and friends. In the process, Akkie learns several lessons, including allowing herself to open her heart once and for all.
In “Meninas Não Choram”, one of the main highlights of the production was the cast that included Letícia Braga, Fernanda Rodrigues, Emílio Orciollo Netto, Marjorie Queiroz, Cauã Martins, Alana Cabral, Pedro Miranda, Duda Matte, Giuseppe Oristanio.
