Did you know that Scar is not the real name of the main villain in Disney’s “The Lion King”? Find out what it’s called!

At the end of April, Disney released the first trailer for “Mufasa: The Lion King”, a new live-action film inspired by the “The Lion King” franchise. In the preview, which follows the life of Simba’s father, we can also see a little of the relationship between the king of the savannah and his brother, Scar. Look!

During the original plot, Scar plays a huge role in the story. This is because, right at the beginning, the lion kills his own brother and makes his nephew, Simba, believe that he is to blame for his father’s death, with the intention of usurping the throne of the kingdom.

With the new film covering Mufasa’s life since his childhood, it is expected that we will also know a little more about how Scar’s villainous side came about. “Mufasa: The Lion King” has its release in Brazilian cinemas confirmed for December 19, 2024.

However, something that many people don’t know is that there is a book released in the same year as the first film, 1994, which tells a little more about the relationship between the two, as well as revealing that the younger brother’s villainous profile it had already existed for a long time — in addition to, initially, having another name.

According to the work “A Tale of Two Brothers”, by Alex Simmons, at birth, Scar was actually named Taka. When he was little, his father, Ahadi, decided that the heir to the throne would be Mufasa, making the little lion feel hurt by the lack of favoritism, in addition to feeling distant from his father, who always prioritized the duties of king.

One day, Ahadi ended up canceling a hunt with his children after some problems arose with the inhabitants of the kingdom, causing the brothers to go hunting alone. Taka, who was extremely upset about the situation, accused his father of rejecting them, and decided that he would burn Mufasa’s image to be chosen as heir.

To do this, he teamed up with the hyenas, and took his brother to a water source monopolized by the Boma buffalo, making Mufasa irritate the animal so that he would be chased. Although the plan worked, while bursting into laughter, Taka also ended up being hit by the herd of buffaloes, causing his famous scar on his face.

Ahadi arrives in time to help his children, and takes Taka to be treated. After his recovery, the lion confesses that what he did to his brother was a form of revenge after his father broke his promise, being reprimanded by the king. Despite having accepted the monarch’s words, he asked that, from that moment on, he be called Scar, an English word that means scar.
