Away from the UFC for almost six years, Demetrious Johnson continues to profit from presence in the organization’s octagon, even if virtual. In a video published on his official YouTube channel, the former flyweight champion (up to 56.7 kg) and legend of the organization revealed that he had profited US$72,500 (approximately R$371 thousand) from his presence in official UFC video games in the last years.

Johnson reveals that he was taken by surprise when he received the first payment, which, according to him, was worth US$25,000 (approximately R$128,000 at current exchange rates), referring to UFC 2, released in 2016, when He was an Ultimate champion.

“You sign an agreement and at that point there is no money involved. So one day I was sitting at home playing video games and I got an email saying that since my character was being used so much in the game, they were sending me a check for $25,000. You dictate how much I earn by how much you use my character. I think it’s fair, it’s based on the popularity of the character in the game”, said ‘Mighty Mouse’.

Even after leaving the organization to join ONE Championship in 2018, Demetrious Johnson He also reveals that he has made over US$25,000 in profit from EA Sports UFC 4, although he has not yet received anything for the most recent edition of the game, released in October last year.

“I think it’s absolutely incredible for me to make that kind of money without getting punched in the face. You are using my character in the game and I thank you”, he concluded.
