Beira-Rio Stadium is flooded after historic flooding in Porto Alegre

All football clubs in Series A of the Brazilian Championshipeach in their own way, demonstrated support for Rio Grande do Sul. The State – which has Grêmio, Internacional and Juventude in the first division of the national championship – is experiencing a public calamity due to the floods that began on April 29th.

By early Thursday evening, 9, 107 deaths had been recorded. In addition to the deaths, 136 people are missing. Of the 497 municipalities in Rio Grande do Sul, 425 were affected in some way by the heavy rains.

Whether opening the doors for donations, promoting open training or donating income to the State, the 17 elite teams, in addition to the Rio Grande do Sul trio, found a way to demonstrate support for Rio Grande do Sul. See below actions taken by the teams:

Also located in the South region, Furacão opened the doors of its stadium, the Ligga Arena, to receive donations. Non-perishable food, water and hygiene and cleaning items were welcome at the famous Arena da Baixada.

Galo also did a great job helping the State. This Saturday, the 11th, the club will hold a training session open to the public to collect non-perishable food and water for Rio Grande do Sul.

Just like Athletico, Bahia opened points to receive donations destined for Rio Grande do Sul. Shopping Paralela, the Arena Fonte Nova reception and the Esquadrão’s official store were made available to anyone who wants to donate water, non-perishable food, hygiene items staff, cleaning supplies and food for dogs and cats.

Glorioso received donations during their match against LDU, on Wednesday, 8th. Due to the success of the action, the club made the north and south sectors of Nilton Santos available as collection points until next Thursday, 16th.

The Bragança Paulista team opened its social networks to publicize the measures taken by the Rio Grande do Sul teams.

Verdão announced that it will allocate all net income from the game against Athletico-PR to the victims. In addition, the club printed a QR Code on the players’ shirts to publicize donation campaigns.

In partnership with sponsor PixBet, Rubro-Negro replaced the company’s prominent space with a pix key for receiving donations.

In addition to printing a QR Code to receive donations on the athletes’ shirts, the club transferred the amount of R$747,600, raised from the auction of the MorumBis sign, to Rio Grande do Sul.

Raposa players signed shirts that will be auctioned, with proceeds going to flood victims.

Leão do Pici made a Pix available for donations on its social networks. Furthermore, the club promoted an action with images simulating flooding in the capital of Ceará, with the aim of touching the fans.

The team was another team that opened the doors of its stadium to collect donations. Around 200 tons of donations have already been delivered by the team to the State.

Timão also opened its doors to collect donations. The team asked fans to take personal hygiene products and cleaning items to fixed collection points in Parque São Jorge. The Neo Química Arena will have collection points this Sunday, 12th, during the match against São Paulo, for the Brasileirão Feminino.

Since last Wednesday, the 8th, Tricolor has been receiving donations at the Laranjeiras stadium. Furthermore, the current Libertadores champion made a Pix key available for fundraising.

Cruzmaltino announced Pix keys that are receiving donations. The amounts will be converted into groceries, hygiene items and other products.

The current Series B champion was yet another club to release a Pix key to raise money.

On Thursday, the 9th, Dragão stated that it will donate the proceeds from the game against Cruzeiro, scheduled for Sunday, the 12th, to the victims of the floods.

Dourado also made a Pix key available to receive donations.

The trio from Rio Grande do Sul has been providing collection points and sharing keys for donations since the beginning of the tragedy. In addition, team athletes are on the front line of supporting victims, working in rescues and distributing donations.
