On the fifth day of the Challenger in Santos, on the coast of São Paulo, Brazilian Pedro Boscardin stopped in the quarterfinals of the tournament’s doubles bracket. Another athlete from Brazil who ended up eliminated was Nicolas Zanellato, due to his partner abandoning him. This way, the country will no longer have any representatives until the end of the competition.

In a match that lasted just over an hour, Boscardin and Kazakh Dmitry Popko fell to Colombian Andrés Urrea and Israeli Roy Stepanov, who won the game 2-0 (6/4 and 6/4). With the campaign established in Santos, Pedro rose seven places in the ATP rankings and returned to the world’s top-230, a position he had not occupied since April. His best result is 174th place, achieved in November last year.

Next, Nicolas Zanellato would enter the court in the quarterfinals to face Argentines Leonardo and Valerio Aboian. However, his partner in the doubles bracket, the American Bruno Kuzuhara, withdrew from the tournament to focus on the singles, where he also advanced to the quarterfinals. He will face Lebanese Hady Habib. Nicolas, on the other hand, ends his participation with nine points in the international ranking. The 22-year-old from São Paulo jumped 112 places and rose to 879th place.
