The organization of the Circuito Santos Surf 2024 confirmed the disputes of the initial stage for Saturday (11), according to wave forecasts. The disputes are scheduled for Posto 2, at Praia do José Menino.
There will be nine categories in dispute, from new base talents to veterans, with the schedule adjusted to one day of the event. The competition starts at 7am (Brasília time) and the finals are scheduled from 1:50pm to 5pm.
Among those registered, one of the highlights is Rafaela Americano, 13 years old. Daughter of the experienced Ricardo Zuca, she is the current two-time Santos female under-14 champion and also has other results such as third place in the Circuito Filipe Toledo Kids on Fire and Koxa Bomb.
– I’m very happy to compete at home, alongside friends and family. My expectation is to be able to show my surfing and be champion in 2024 – says the young surfer.
The Santos revelation is inspired by the surfing of Marcos Corrêa, a talent from Baixada Santista, who also trains at the CT of the Santos Surf Association.
– It is also goofy and has an impressive elasticity. I really like the surfing of the new generation of Caitlin Simmers and three-time world champion Gabriel Medina, who is one of the most complete surfers we have today – concludes Rafaela.
In total, the Santos Surf Circuit 2024 will have three stages with the under-12, under-14, under-16 and under-16 female, open and open female, master and kahuna categories. This Thursday (9) the event’s technical symposium will be held, at 6 pm, at the Santos Commercial Association, in the Center. The meeting will bring together competitors, sponsors and authorities, with tributes, delivery of kits and disclosure of the rules.
