The fourth round of the group stage of the Copa Sudamericana will begin this Tuesday (7/5) and, at this moment, some Brazilian teams, such as Cruzeiro and Corinthians, fear early elimination from the competition.

The Sul-Americana regulations provide that the leader of each group will go directly to the round of 16, while the second-placed team will qualify one step further. playoff previous. The third and fourth placed teams are eliminated.

Brazilians eliminated in the group stage of the South American Championship

In 2021 and 2022, there was still no playoff against the third-placed teams in the Copa Libertadores. In this way, only the leaders of each group were classified.

2022

  • Cuiabá – came third in Group B, with six points. The team that qualified was Melgar, who scored 12 points.
  • Fluminense – was the runner-up in Group H, with 11 points, one less than the leader Unión de Santa Fé, who scored 12 and moved into the round of 16.

Representatives from Brazil in the group stage, Santos, São Paulo, Internacional, Atlético-GO and Ceará passed the stage. Tricolor Paulista reached the final, but were defeated by Independiente del Valle.

2023
