German champion with five rounds to spare, Bayer Leverkusen beat Eintracht Frankfurt 5-1 this Sunday (5), in the 32nd round of the Bundesliga. The match marked, in addition to another victory for the team led by Xabi Alonso, the return of right-back Arthur, ex-América, to the pitch. The athlete returned after recovering from surgery on his left hamstring.
At 21 years old, the player revealed by Coelho was even highly praised by the Spanish coach. Xabi Alonso highlighted that Arthur is a great athlete for the future of Bayer Leverkusen.
“Arthur did very well. He wasn’t calm enough in the first five minutes. It’s not easy after seven months, but he’s worked well and is a very good young player. We have a top player for the future in him”, said the Leverkusen coach.
It is worth remembering that this was only Arthur’s fourth match with the Bayer Leverkusen shirt. At 21 years old, the athlete was hired in August last year, but suffered a serious injury that resulted in a seven-month layoff.
Arthur, revealed by América and playing for the Brazilian team, was the most expensive sale in América’s history. Last year, the player cost 7 million euros (around R$38 million at the time) to Bayer Leverkusen’s coffers.
