Minas officially signed its first contract for the next Men’s Volleyball Super League. This Monday (6), the team from Minas Gerais announced the arrival of Iranian setter Javad Karimisouchelmaei, 26 years old.

On April 15th, the Itatiaia reported the progress in negotiations between Minas and Karimi. The Iranian is a constant presence in his country’s national team squads. He competed in the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2021 and is on the list to represent Iran in the 2024 Nations League.

Javad Karimi celebrated the agreement with Minas. “I am very happy to have this opportunity to play for Itambé Minas. It’s a big club, which has a fantastic structure and is a reference in Brazil and the world. Furthermore, Brazilian volleyball is a school that I admire a lot, so I’m sure it will be a fantastic experience. I will do my best to achieve our goals,” he said.

Before the agreement with Minas, the Iranian stood out in the European season. The setter even aroused the interest of Italian teams.

Javad Karimisouchelmaei is considered a tall player for the position, at 2.06m. In recent calls, he had opportunities as a starter in the strong Iranian team.
