Drugovich will debut at the 2024 24 Hours of Le Mans

Felipe Drugovich will join Cadillac for the 24 Hours of Le Mans, in June.

The Brazilian will fill the vacancy in the factory team at Action Express Racing for the traditional French race on June 15th and 16th and will join Pipo Derani and Jack Aitkendrivers who complete the team’s season in the IMSA SportsCar Championship, in the Cadillac V-Series #311 R LMDh.

Drugovich got a factory seat in the Hypercar class after taking his first steps into sports car racing this year in the European Le Mans Series, which you can follow live on Motorsport.tv Brazil.

He joined the Vector Sport LMP2 team in its first season since winning the 2022 Formula 2 title, but it was clear from the start that he would not compete with the British team’s ORECA-Gibson 07 at Le Mans.

The head of Action Express, Gary Nelsonrevealed that Drugovich had been “on our radar for a few years.”

“After seeing him drive a sports car recently at ELMS, we finally had the chance to meet him and work with him in some simulator testing,” he explained.

“We were impressed by his maturity, discipline and knowledge. Then, we took Felipe for a track test, when he shared our car with Pipo and Jack.

“We are very excited to take the obvious next step and enter Felipe alongside Pipo and Jack in Le Mans. His track record speaks for itself.”

Drugovich described the opportunity to race for Cadillac and Action Express at Le Mans as “the most important opportunity in my racing career so far.”

“The 24 Hours of Le Mans are impossible to define in words, such is its magic and importance for cars in general and motorsport in particular,” said the 23-year-old, who is a two-time Le Mans Virtual winner .

“I’ve barely touched on the magic of Le Mans winning the virtual editions twice – now I’m going to really dive in. What a privilege to have another dream come true.”

Drugovich fills a seat held by Tom Blomqvist: he is the Endurance driver for the Action Express team for the long-distance races at Daytona, Sebring, Watkins Glen, Indianapolis and Road Atlanta.
