Botafogo ranks 12th in revenue ranking in Brazilian football in 2023, study shows

O Botafogo was the 12th club that raised the most in 2023 in Brazilian football, shows a survey carried out by Sports Value, a consultancy specializing in finance of sport, and published by “Exame” magazine.

As already mentioned, SAF do Glorioso added R$570 million in revenue in 2023, an increase of 257% compared to 2022. Despite this, Fogão ended the year with a deficit of R$101.1 million.

The study also showed that the 20 clubs that earned the most in Brazil had revenues of R$8.9 billion, the highest amount ever recorded in history, an increase of 19% compared to 2022 (R$7.5 billion).

Revenues from player negotiations increased by 25%, from marketing by 22%, from box office and stadiums by 33%, from members and social clubs by 20% and from TV rights by 8%.

Liga Forte União

The Sport Value report, however, pointed out “numerous accounting inconsistencies in the recording of amounts received by clubs belonging to the Liga Forte União (LFU)”, one of the blocs that negotiates broadcasting rights.
