McLaren had hoped to have a stronger result in the Formula 1 Miami GP Sprint qualifying session, but Oscar Piastri took P6 and Lando Norris P9 after both drivers had problems with the soft tyres.
Piastri spoke after the session: “P6… Not bad, all things considered. It could have been a slightly smoother session on the soft tire, but it’s still a decent starting point for the Sprint race.”
“I think some cars are a little bit out of position, so it will be interesting to see what we can do tomorrow as the car looks fast. Even without the full upgrade package, we’ve taken a step forward, so thank you to the team for getting us to this point.”
