Wiesbaden (Germany) – Friday saw two victories for Laura Pigossi in the doubles bracket of the ITF W100 in Wiesbaden, on clay courts in Germany. Pigossi won his games alongside the British Samantha Murray Sharan and secured a place in the final of the tournament.

In the morning, Pigossi and Murray beat Georgian Natela Dzalamidze and Latvian Darja Semenistaja 7/5 and 6/3. Hours later, they also eliminated the week’s top seeds, Georgian Oksana Kalashnikova and Russian Yana Sizikova 6/4 and 6/1.

Pigossi has accumulated 41 doubles titles on the International Federation circuit, the most recent in 2021. In recent years, he has prioritized the singles circuit and reached the top 100 of the WTA in August 2022. His opponents in the final will be Japan’s Himeno Sakatsume and Bosnian Anita Wagner.

The campaign to the final in Wiesbaden yields 65 points in the rankings for Pigossi, who could add 100 points if he wins the title. Olympic medalist alongside Luísa Stefani in Tokyo, the 29-year-old from São Paulo occupies 294th place in the doubles ranking and is gaining six positions. If she is champion, she will get closer to 250th place.
