Faces Lorenzo Musetti for a place in the semi-final of the Italian race

Nuno Borges reached the quarter-finals of Challenger 175 in Cagliari this Thursday, after defeating Yoshihito Nishioka (78th ranking world championship), 2-1, with partials of 6/3, 6/7 [3-7] and 6/3.

In a match that lasted two hours and 33 minutes, the Maiato started to lose by 0/2, however, they won six of the next seven games played to win the first set.

In the second, the tie remained until 6/6, despite each player breaking the opponent’s service on two occasions. Nishioka was more focused on tiebreak and took advantage of the Portuguese’s drop in performance to take the duel to black.
