Born in Itabirito (in the Central Region of Minas Gerais), Larissa Fortes (19 years old) became champion of the 2023/24 Women’s Volleyball Super League with Minas Tênis Clube (MTC).

In a very balanced game, on Sunday (21/4), Minas beat Praia Clube in the grand final by three sets to one, with partials of 25/23, 21/25, 25/16 and 25/21, reaching the 5th title of the biggest volleyball tournament in the country.

In an exclusive interview with General Radar, Larissa told us a little about the feeling of winning the title: “It was a mix of feelings! We worked all season to achieve this goal and it is very gratifying to see the work paying off! It was my first Super League, so it was very special, both personally and professionally”, said the player.

The final of the competition took place at the Geraldão gymnasium, in Recife, and was attended by more than 8 thousand people. As it was a unique game, the match took place in a neutral location, as both teams are from Minas Gerais.

The Minas libero highlighted the team’s commitment and unity, emphasizing that the training sessions leading up to the game were very good and strengthened the team for the duel.

When asked about how her individual preparation normally goes, Larissa reported that she tries to follow a routine as much as possible, without any distractions that could take away her focus: “I try to keep things as routine as possible to prepare myself well”, she said.

Minas and Praia Clube currently “dominate” the Brazilian volleyball scene. Since the 2017/18 season, the Superliga has been played on seven occasions by both teams, being won four times by MTC and twice by the Uberlândia team; the 2019/20 tournament was canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Recently, the Itabiritense native was also champion of the South American Volleyball Championship, against Praia Clube itself. Even at such a young age, she already has two important titles on her CV, but stated that she has even bigger dreams in her career: “I think achieving these feats more often, in addition to bigger goals such as the Brazilian team, world championships and the Olympics”, she reported.

The player thanked them for their kindness and sent a message to the young athletes from Itabirito: “I would like to hope that, regardless of the path, whether in sport or not, they are always happy, persevering and that they give themselves one hundred percent to whatever they choose!”, she concluded. .
