The fighting world was shaken this Monday (29) by the news of the loss of the former champion’s 18-month-old son. UFC, Francis Ngannou. The tragedy, according to the Cameroonian portal ‘237online.com’, hit the fighter hard, leaving him ‘completely finished’, according to his own words in a post on social media.

The exact circumstances of the little one’s death have not yet been revealed, intensifying the pain and grief that hang over the Ngannou family at this time. The news, which spread quickly across social media, generated a wave of support and condolences for the fighter from fans, friends and professional colleagues.

“What is the purpose of life if what we are fighting tooth and nail for is what hits us the hardest!? Why is life so unfair and merciless? Why does life always take what we don’t have? I’m completely finished”, said the fighter on his social networks.

The loss of his son represents a devastating blow for the fighter, who had already been facing a turbulent period in his career. After a contentious dispute with the UFC in 2022, the fighter migrated to boxing, where he faced and lost to Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua.

Despite the setbacks in the ring, Francis was preparing to return to MMA, having signed a contract with the PFL and hoping to face the Brazilian Renan Problem. The tragedy, however, puts the fighter’s future in mixed martial arts in question, leaving doubts about his ability to compete at a high level again.
