(photo: Disclosure)

From a multi-championship Champions League club to teams with no division in Brazilian football. This is the variation among the teams that are Cruzeiro’s creditors, as shown in the final 2023 balance sheet of the celestial club’s civil association. O On Attack had access to the document and details which clubs these are.

The team that Cruzeiro owes the most is Santa Cruz: the debt is R$ 5,919,823.71 for the signing of striker Raniel, back in 2016. The traditional representative of Pernambuco will not take the field again this year as he is without a division in the Brazilian football and will only return in 2025, when it will return to compete in Series D.

Below Santinha, Ajax stands out as second place. Four-time champion of the Champions League and biggest winner of the Dutch Championship (36 cups), the European team has R$2,175,000.00 to receive from the Cruzeiro association in relation to the negotiation of Luis Orejuela. The Colombian full-back played for the Dutch club before moving to Minas Gerais football in 2019.

The other ten clubs on Cruzeiro’s list of creditors practically do not have debts exceeding R$1 million. Among the teams, Atlético-GO, Corinthians and Criciúma are representatives of Series A of the Brazilian Championship, while Mirassol and Sport are in the Second Division, and ABC and Ferroviária compete in Series C.

Cruzeiro’s list of creditors also includes three teams from São Paulo that are without division in Brazilian football: Juventus, Rio Branco and Atlético Desportivo Ribeirão Pires.
