Left-back Guilherme Arana cited what has bothered the players during Atlético’s games. In a press conference this Friday (26/4), the athlete said that the group is already talking to adjust the issue in conjunction with the guidelines of Argentine coach Gabriel Milito.
In a good phase in the Brazilian Championship, after beating Cruzeiro 3-0, and undefeated in the Copa Libertadores, after beating Peñarol 3-2, Galo has the full support of the fans and sees the recovery of confidence of the players in field. However, the team’s drop in performance, especially in the second half, raised an alarm.
“It’s a fact that has been bothering us, the second part. It is a recent work that is having many successes, good things, in such a short time, with a new coach. Happy for the moment. It is normal that some adjustments are missing, as the work is recent. It’s good to adjust when you’re winning. Happy with the phase. The second half bothers us, we players and the committee always guides us. We are dropping a little compared to our first half. But we will adjust”

Against Peñarol, Atlético took a 2-0 lead in the first half. In the second stage, they expanded right from the beginning, but let the intensity drop and suffered suffocation from the Uruguayan team, who managed to reduce the score in a short time. The black and white team, however, managed to hold off the pressure and came away with the victory at Arena MRV.
Arana said that the ‘problem’ is already being discussed with the coach and other castmates. Furthermore, the player highlighted that Milito’s work is new and therefore, some adjustments are still pending.
“Based on the calendar, it’s more of a conversational basis. Adjust some things. We are aware that our second half is missing something. This will be adjusted, it is recent work. It’s normal for things to happen that are beyond our control. The professor has already warned us that we are going to make this adjustment, so that Atlético can be more consistent. We have to be more solid in the second half, because we are creating opportunities”, he concluded.
Atlético returns to the field this Saturday (27/4), to face Cuiabá, at 6:30 pm, at Arena Pantanal, in the fourth round of the Brazilian Championship.
