Former Santos and Brazilian national team player Robson de Souza, the Robinho, completed this Sunday, 21st, the first month of prison at Penitentiary 2 in Tremembé, in Vale do Paraíba, about 160 kilometers from São Paulo.

Robinho, who is serving a nine-year sentence for the crime of gang rape against an Albanian woman in Italy, follows the regular routine and is signed up to work at the unit, according to the g1.

The former player was arrested on March 21 of this year, in the penthouse where he lived in Santos, on the coast of São Paulo, in a Federal Police (PF) operation. The arrest was carried out following a decision by the Superior Court of Justice (STJ), which determined that he should serve his sentence in a closed regime in Brazil. He was convicted by Italian justice in 2022.

According to the publication, Robinho shares a cell with another inmate and receives visitors on weekends. Visits can take place between Saturday and Sunday, from 8 am to 4 pm, depending on the visitors’ choice. However, the former player only started receiving visits on April 5th and 6th, after his release. The number of registered visitors was not disclosed.

At the penitentiary, Robinho has access to educational and sporting activities, such as football matches, theater and English workshops, religious actions, musical rehearsals and film sessions with commentary, according to the Penitentiary Administration Secretariat (SAP).

In addition to his activities, the former athlete is registered on a list that organizes the job vacancies offered at the penitentiary. The list considers the chronological order of the inmate’s entry into the unit and training.

Work

If a vacancy arises, the first inmates on the list undergo a selection process that analyzes their skills for the role to be performed there. After passing the process, the inmate begins working in a workshop within the unit.

The service can be carried out through partnerships with companies or the Prof. Foundation. Dr. Manoel Pedro Pimentel (Funap), which has factories that make desks and school chairs, locks and disinfectant tablets for toilets.

Work can also be paid through a nest egg account. In this case, the detainee does not have access to the money, but the family may be authorized to withdraw part of the amount or request that the unit buy specific items for the detainee.

Seclusion

Robinho was under observation during the first ten days of prison. Alone in an 8m² cell, the former athlete underwent a period of adaptation and evaluation by the prison team. The cell consists of a bed, sink and Turkish basin, which consists of a toilet built into the floor.

At that time, Robinho was not allowed to receive visitors or participate in regular prison activities.

The unit is famous for holding inmates from other high-profile cases, such as Alexandre Nardoni, convicted of the death of his daughter Isabella; Cristian Cravinhos, arrested for his involvement in the murder of the Richthofen couple; and Lindemberg Alves, convicted of the death of Eloá Pimentel.
