New live-action ‘Resident Evil’ will have BIG budget

-

The script for the new film in the franchise’resident Evil‘ is almost finished, and Insider Fandom revealed that the film’s budget will be quite high.

Production company Screen Gems will make the new film with a bigger budget than ‘Welcome to Raccoon City‘, which is estimated to have cost $25 million (earning just $41 million at the worldwide box office).

The producer intends to spend more than $25 million – and it’s unclear whether this will be a direct sequel to ‘Welcome to Raccoon City‘ or will it be another reboot with new actors.

The producer was behind the franchise starring Milla Jovovich and the recent reboot’Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City‘.

Previously, rumors suggested that the local government of Sudbury, Canada, had approved financing of 11 million Canadian dollars for the development of several projects, including one entitled ‘Umbrella Chronicles‘.

Because of the title, it is believed that the new project must adapt the game’Resident Evil 0‘ to the big screen.

Casting and filming will begin soon, according to the report.

Please note that ‘Welcome to Raccoon City‘ was massacred by critics – just 30% critics approval on Rotten Tomatoes – in addition to having failed at the box office, grossing only US$41.9 million worldwide, from a budget of US$25 million.
