Elected six times as the best football player in the world and currently in the Orlando Pridefrom the United States, Marta announced in an interview with “CNN“that this will be your last year at Brazilian Team. At 38 years old, the star hopes that the Paris Olympic Games be your last trip with “Amarelinha”.

“If I go to the Olympics, I will enjoy every moment, because regardless of whether I go to the Olympics or not, this is my last year with the national team. There is no longer Marta in the national team as an athlete from 2025 onwards”, said Marta.

Still in the interview, the six-time best player in the world praised the new names that have appeared in Brazilian football and projected a successful future for women’s football.

“This is my last year, and I can already confirm it here. There is a moment when we have to understand that the time has come. I am very calm about this, because I see with great optimism this development that we are having in relation to young athletes”, he stated.

We have a very qualified team, with very talented girls and, over the years, you will see that it really is what I am talking about, it is a very fertile ground”.

“For that reason, I feel very comfortable saying, ‘Look, I’m passing it on to you, I’m going to pass the baton, and you continue to carry on this legacy,’” he concluded.

For the Brazilian team, Marta’s main achievements include gold medals at the Pan American Games in Santo Domingo, in 2003, and Rio de Janeiro, in 2007, and three editions of the Copa América, in 2003, 2010 and 2018.
