Corinthians gave up on signing Paraguayan defender Adrián Brizuela, who had already been training at the club’s facilities for a few weeks – as shown on the cover of the article. O My Timon exclusively found out that the reason was due to the amount charged by Tacuary, a club in Paraguay that holds its economic rights.

In base transfers, mainly international ones, FIFA usually requires the payment of some amount between the clubs or the sharing of that athlete’s economic rights. Corinthians has been working exclusively with the second possibility. In Brizuela’s case, however, Tacuary demanded this payment, which was around R$1 million.

The turnaround draws attention because the player’s entire staff, as well as himself, were confident in the agreement. At the time that the My Timon reported the agreement, at the beginning of April, all that was missing were these details with Tacuary and the signing of the contract. The agreement aimed at a possible promotion to the professional ranks when the defender reached the base age.

During this period at the club, Brizuela had been training with the Under-18 squad to adapt to Corinthians and Brazil as a whole. The defender born in 2004 has already been informed of his release.

This negotiation scheme, with transfer of percentages, is common at Corinthians. This was done with the signings of Fernando Vera and Franco Delgado, two foreigners who attend the black and white base. Another recent example is midfielder Bruno Xavier, announced last Monday for the Under-17s. Athletic-MG wanted a permanent sale, but Timão demanded that a loan with an option to purchase be agreed.
