Ferrari reveals first images of blue overalls for F1 2024 Miami GP
This Wednesday, the team released a video on its social networks previewing what the overalls of the riders should look like, who will also wear sneakers, casual t-shirts and even blue glasses. In the early days of F1, this was the tone adopted for the team’s mechanic uniforms.
Ferrari, however, will not adopt any shade of the color, but rather the “Azzurro La Plata”, used by two-time champion Alberto Ascari in his two F1 titles in 1952 and 1953; in the 1964 US and Mexican GPs, and which served as the official color of the Argentine races.
The team will also use, during the weekend, the “Azzurro Dino” hue, last seen in 1974 when Clay Regazzoni was runner-up in F1. This was the last time that blue appeared on the Italian team’s cars.
Ferrari has already changed its liveries on some special occasions in F1: in 2023, the team adopted a yellow and red livery for the Italian GP, celebrating the victory of the 499P in the 24 Hours of Le Mans of the same year.
Last season, Sainz and Leclerc drove at the Las Vegas GP with a car in shades of white alongside the team’s traditional red. At the 2020 Tuscan GP, the SF1000 was painted burgundy in honor of the team’s 100th race.
Almost two decades earlier, the Maranello red of the team’s cars gave way to black completely covering the nose of the F2001, a car driven by Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello in the 2001 season.
The next race of the 2024 F1 season will be the Miami GP on May 5, valid as the sixth stage of the championship. See full calendar.
