Max Verstappen could surpass Lewis Hamilton in an important Formula 1 statistic at the next Miami GP. Currently, the two drivers’ winning percentage is almost equal, but that could change if Verstappen wins in Miami.

When Verstappen debuted in F1 in 2015, Hamilton had already won 22.3% of the races he contested. His career-best percentage was 36.3%. Since then, the Mercedes driver has seen his win rate drop drastically. He has not won since the end of 2021, while Verstappen broke the record for most wins in two consecutive seasons.

Hamilton’s win rate has dropped to 30.56%, while Verstappen’s is at 30.53%. A win at the Miami GP will put the Dutchman ahead. Even if he doesn’t win in Miami, the chances of Verstappen overtaking Hamilton at some point in the season remain high.

Red Bull Racing remains dominant, while Mercedes has yet to achieve a podium in 2024. Last Sunday, Hamilton finished ninth and during the race in China, where he started 18th, and the driver complained about the W15. “This car is very slow,” said the Briton over the team radio. Next year, he hopes to change the situation with his move to Ferrari.
