Flamengo faces a challenge as it prepares for its commitments in April, when the club will compete in three different competitions. Diagnosed with an injury to the adductor of his right thigh, Wesley will face a period off the field, estimated at two weeks. This means that he will be left out of the finals of the Campeonato Carioca and will also miss his debut in the Libertadores.

Faced with this situation, coach Tite needs to find a replacement for the right back, and the alternative found is Santiago Ocampos. The 22-year-old Paraguayan signed a contract with Flamengo in December 2021, initially for the Under-20 team. Now, he will have the opportunity to show his potential in the main team, being observed by the coaching staff during Wesley’s absence.

Santiago Ocampos has an interesting trajectory in football, starting his career at Deportivo Luqueño, in Paraguay, and moving through the youth teams at Juventus, in Italy. He has already played for Flamengo’s alternative team during the 2024 Campeonato Carioca, accumulating two games and 113 minutes on the field.

This injury to Wesley represents a challenge for Flamengo, but it also opens up an opportunity for Santiago Ocampos to show his value and earn his place in the main team. The coaching staff will be attentive to the player’s performance during this period of Wesley’s absence, and fans are waiting to see how he will perform in this important position on the team.

When will Flamengo’s next game be?

In April, Flamengo will face a schedule full of challenges, competing in three different tournaments. Under the command of coach Tite, the team will play matches in the Campeonato Carioca, Copa Libertadores and Campeonato Brasileiro.
