Formula 1 drivers and teams will need to adapt to an unprecedented condition in 2024: the possibility of rain at the Japanese Grand Prix. According to the forecast from the website Weather.com, there is a 50% chance of rain on Sunday in Suzuka.

So far, all stages of the season have been held on a dry track, at the Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Australian GPs. The Suzuka circuit, however, is known for being challenging in wet conditions. Although the change to April was made precisely to avoid the peak of the Japanese rainy season, the forecast points to a different scenario.

According to the forecast, throughout the weekend, rain may appear on all days of activities. On free practice Friday, the forecast is cloudy weather, with a minimum of 15°C and a 23% chance of rain. On Saturday, the temperature should rise a little, as well as the probability of rain, which reaches 24%.

However, it is on Sunday that drivers should pay more attention. The race has the highest chance of rain seen so far this season, with a 61% chance. It is worth remembering that historically, when it rains in Suzuka, the rain is usually intense.

With the possibility of facing a wet track for the first time in 2024, teams will need to adjust their strategies to face an extra challenge at the Japanese GP.
