A comment on Santos’ social media is stirring up fans. World champion with Spain, Andrés Iniesta reacted to a video of Peixe’s 1-0 victory over Palmeiras, on Sunday night, in the first game of the Campeonato Paulista final.
O post shows Diego Pituca’s celebration after the final whistle. Iniesta commented several hands up and received many responses from Santos fans. Most ask that the experienced midfielder go to Alvinegro Praiano. Some even joked: “come and be Pituca’s reserve”.
Santos also joined the bandwagon and wrote “we have a Spanish star supporting Peixão. Greetings Alvinegras, Andrés Iniesta.”
At 39 years old, Iniesta is currently at the Emirates Club, in the United Arab Emirates. The Spaniard even faced Pituca on a few occasions in Japan. The European played for Vissel Kobe, while the Brazilian belonged to Kashima Antlers.
Furthermore, Iniesta already faced Santos in 2011. The midfielder was one of the leaders of the Barcelona squad, which beat Peixe 4-0 in the Club World Cup final.
The world champion also shared the pitch for a long time with Neymar, who was in Vila Belmiro this Sunday to accompany his former team.
