Agustín Rossi, Flamengo goalkeeper, etched his name in the history of the club and Brazilian football with impressive marks. By keeping his goal unbeaten for 1055 minutes, he not only became the goalkeeper with the longest time without conceding goals in official games for Flamengo, surpassing the legendary Cantarele, but also entered the top-10 of goalkeepers with the longest streaks without being leaked into the history of Brazilian football (ranking below). Names like Rogério Ceni and Raul Plassmann, both with notable track records, are now behind Rossi in this select list.

The 3-0 victory over Nova Iguaçu, valid for the first game of the Campeonato Carioca final, was not just another match. It was the moment in which Rossi reached these historic milestones, standing out not only in the context of Flamengo but in all of Brazilian football. His run of clean sheets is the longest among all Serie A goalkeepers in the 21st century, according to statistics from ‘SofaScore’, highlighting his exceptional performance.

Longest sequences without being leaked:

  1. Mazaropi (Vasco) – 1816 minutes, between 1977 and 1978
  2. Neneca (Nautical) – 1636 minutes, in 1974
  3. Jorge Reis (Rio Branco – 1604 minutes, between 1970 and 1971
  4. Zetti (Palmeiras) – 1238 minutes, in 1987
  5. Jairo (Corinthians) – 1132 minutes, in 1978
  6. Emerson Conceição (Paysandu) – 1108 minutes, in 2016
  7. Altevir Sales (Athletico) – 1066 minutes, in 1977
  8. Eli Graciano (São Bernardo) – 1060 minutes, in 1982
  9. Emerson Leão (Palmeiras) – 1057 minutes, in 1973
  10. Agustín Rossi (Flamengo) – 1055 minutes, in 2024

Rossi himself, humble in his achievement, credited the success not only to himself, but to the collective work of the team. In his words, after the game against Fluminense (in the semi-final), he especially thanked Matheus Bachi and coach Tite, in addition to emphasizing the importance of the entire team’s effort. This team mentality is, without a doubt, one of the pillars of Flamengo’s success.

That’s what playing for Flamengo is, you have to have that spirit, that desire to always try to win. I thank Matheus (Bachi), the teacher (Tite) and it is important to me for the record I managed to break, but also to the whole team for today, for the 11 games without being leaked, throughout the season. I think it’s importantsaid Rossi.

Rossi now has the opportunity to climb even higher in the ranking of undefeated goalkeepers. With Flamengo preparing to face Millonarios (COL) in the Libertadores debut, in Bogotá, expectations are high. A match without conceding goals would not only consolidate Rossi’s position in the Brazilian top-10, but would also elevate him to fifth place, surpassing historical figures such as Jairo and Emerson Leão. This game, which will be played at the challenging El Campín Stadium, located in altitude of more than 2,600 meters, promises to be a significant test for the goalkeeper and his team.
