Cruzeiro’s board is working to keep attacking midfielder Matheus Pereira. Negotiation for the player to stay at Toca II after the end of the loan, valid until the end of June this year, is not easy. According to the investigation of the Itatiaiathe celestial leaders advanced conversations with Al Hilal, holder of the midfielder’s economic rights, including an offer to purchase.
Matheus Pereira came on loan to Cruzeiro with his economic rights set at 12 million (R$64.8 million). According to the report, the Cruzeiro board made a proposal to the Arabs to pay off this amount within five years.
If this offer is accepted, Cruzeiro would divide the more than R$60 million to purchase the athlete into 60 installments. On a monthly basis, the celestial club would have a commitment to pay something around R$1.08 million to Al Hilal for the acquisition of the number 10 shirt.
Cruzeiro investor, Pedro Lourenço, owner of Supermercados BH, gave details about the possible stay of midfielder Matheus Pereira at Toca da Raposa II.
In an interview this Wednesday (27), after handing over the title of honorary citizen of Minas Gerais to Ronaldo Fenômeno, the businessman said he was 90% sure that the club would sign Pereira.
“Matheus is a priority for Cruzeiro. Ronaldo was already with the sheikhs about 15 days ago. He’s been talking. He has the proposal. The priority today is Matheus. The first step is that Matheus wants to stay, and the club wants to sell there. Just adjust the salaries, because he has salaries that are far outside the club’s reality. But we are talking. We have hope, from one to 100, 90% that it will work,” he said.
Still according to the Itatiaia, Cruzeiro accepts the investment to count on Matheus Pereira. However, he wants even more dedication from the player so that he can increase his personal statistics. This idea of increasing technical evolution comes from the club’s board and football department.
After Cruzeiro qualified for the final of the Campeonato Mineiro, Matheus Pereira revealed the board’s request.
“It’s important to talk about the game (against Tombense). I don’t like talking ahead, but I’ve already made my wishes clear. Pedro (Martins, Cruzeiro’s football director) said it would depend a lot on my performance. Then you have to ask For him, it’s paying off.
