Marcelo Melo and Frenchman Edouard Roger-Vasselin said goodbye to the Masters 1000 in Miami, in the United States. This Wednesday (27), the French-Brazilian duo entered the court for the quarter-finals against the partnership of North American Austin Krajicek and Croatian Ivan Dodig. In a balanced duel with just one break for each side, Melo and Roger-Vasselin ended up overcoming in two tie-breaks: 7/6[1] and 7/6[4].

The partnership of Krajicek and Dodig entered as seed 2 in the doubles match at the Masters 1000 in Miami. In the previous rounds, Melo and Roger-Vasselin had defeated Santiago Gonzalez (MEX)/Neal Skupski (GRB) and Ben Shelton (USA)/Cristpher Eubanks (USA).

Despite the elimination, Marcelo Melo scored 200 points with the campaign in Miami. The Minas Gerais native, who already won the tournament in 2017, entered this edition of the tournament as number 51 in the ATP specialist rankings. In the next update of the list, he may appear in 49th place, four positions below Rafael Matos, currently the best Brazilian doubles player.
