Cruzeiro has conversations well underway with Anderson’s staff to renew the 26-year-old goalkeeper’s contract. The Celeste board seeks to extend the contract of Rafael Cabral’s immediate reserve for two more seasons.

Initially, Anderson will sign with Cruzeiro until the end of 2025, with the possibility of a contract extension for another year, until December 2026.

The Fox tries to protect itself from the possibility of losing the archer. This is because Anderson only has a contract with the Minas Gerais club until December 2024 and could sign a pre-contract with any team from July onwards.

Information about the negotiations between Cruzeiro and Anderson was provided by Itatiaia and confirmed by the report of On Attack this Wednesday (27/3).

Anderson for Cruzeiro

Anderson has been at Toca da Raposa 2, in Belo Horizonte, since January last year and only entered the field in the 0-0 draw with Botafogo, in the 18th round of Series A of the Brazilian Championship. At the time, he took Cabral’s place, suspended for a third yellow card.

Before that, Anderson’s only performance had been in the friendly against Bragantino, on March 29. At the time, the goalkeeper was called on by coach Pepa in the second half and played for 41 minutes. He made good saves, didn’t concede a goal and saw the team win the match 3-2.

Anderson aroused the interest of Cruzeiro’s board in the final stretch of 2022, when he belonged to Athletico-PR. The goalkeeper had not been used by Furacão and could already sign a pre-contract with any club, starting in 2023. And he did so.

He arrived at Cruzeiro – still under the command of coach Paulo Pezzolano – to shadow Rafael Cabral, who only had competition from the young Rodrigo Bazílio.

The number 98 went through a delicate moment days after his arrival in the capital of Minas Gerais. He fractured the first rib on his right side during training at Toca da Raposa 2 and was handed over to the medical department for a month.

Professional career

Cruzeiro’s archer is from Ribeirão Pires, in the interior of São Paulo, and is a member of Palmeiras’ youth teams. However, he began his professional career at Santa Cruz, a club for which he played 36 games in 2019.

Still in the same year, he was loaned by Verdão to Athletico-PR. Furacão saw potential in the goalkeeper and decided to stay at CT do Caju. However, he didn’t have much space in the first team and was transferred to Náutico in two spells.

In 2022, before signing with Cruzeiro, Anderson played 14 matches with the Athletico shirt, nine in the Campeonato Paranaense and five in Série A of the Brasileirão. In the rest of the red-black team’s games, he was Bento’s substitute.
