The vice-president of Sindippen-MG (Union of Penitentiary Security Agents of the State of Minas Gerais), Wladimir Dantas, said this Tuesday (30/4) that the government of Minas Gerais lies when saying that it maintains dialogue with civil servants and with representatives of categories linked to security.

“He says he maintains contact along with a dialogue channel with the public servant. That’s a lie! The governor himself doesn’t sit down with class entities. He sits down with all private sector entities, but he doesn’t sit down with the public. (…) We requested an agenda with the governor, but he neglects, avoids, doesn’t talk”, complained Dantas.

Public Security employees held a demonstration at Palácio Tiradentes, the headquarters of the Minas Gerais government in the Administrative City, demanding that governor Romeu Zema (Novo) pay an adjustment that, according to them, has been out of date for more than seven years. The MG-010 was obstructed by protesters.

“We held a demonstration in the Administrative City demanding a percentage of inflationary losses that exceeds 41%. The government released a note informing that it will send a percentage of 3.62% to the Assembly of Minas”, argued the vice-president of Sindippen.

Alleging a delicate fiscal situation, Zema announced that he must submit a bill to the Legislative Assembly of Minas Gerais requesting a salary increase of 3.62%. Which is harshly criticized by Dantas.

“Posting an index like that is Machiavellian, evil, for all employees. Not just us, but education and health. (…) It’s not a real salary increase, it’s just inflationary losses”, he stated.

Dantas said that the salary recovery does not “interfere with the fiscal responsibility law”, as the Minas Gerais government claims, as it will only reduce the loss that the public employee has had over the years.

Earlier, the government of Minas Gerais sent a note on the topic. Read the note:

“The Government of Minas recognizes the importance of all civil servants, including the valuable work carried out by Security Forces professionals. The current management maintains open dialogue channels with representatives of the categories and seeks to understand and meet their demands, within the framework of which the law allows and the fiscal and structural possibilities of the State.

Even in the face of the State’s delicate fiscal situation, the Government of Minas made every effort to ensure a general review of civil servants’ remuneration. Therefore, it will forward to the Legislative Assembly a Bill (PL) providing for a general adjustment of 3.62% in the salaries of all public servants in Minas Gerais. The proposal provides for salary recovery retroactive to January 2024.

It should be noted that the State still has personnel expenses above the limits of the Fiscal Responsibility Law (LRF), having recorded in the last four months of 2023 a commitment of 51.4% of Net Current Revenue (RCL), to a limit fixed maximum of 49%. According to the rules of the legislation, in this case, it is only possible to grant a general review of remuneration with the application of the same percentage and the same effective date for all categories”.
