Venice adopts provisional visitation tax to avoid excessive tourism during the European summer

According to the Associated Press, the measure aims to avoid “excessive tourism” to the city on busy days, seeking to bring more peace of mind to Venice’s residents and guests. “We need to find a new balance between tourists and residents”said Simone Venturini, the city’s main tourism authority. “We have to take care of residents’ spaces, of course, and we need to reduce the arrival of tourists on excursions on specific days”.


How to pay the new Venice tax?

Who is exempt from the new Venice tax?
