Abel Ferreira said “kick” before a goal by Luís Guilherme, from Palmeiras
Palmeiras’ comeback victory over Independiente del Valle, this Wednesday, had a special element on the bench. When Luís Guilherme received Lázaro’s pass at the edge of the area, coach Abel Ferreira was caught asking the boy to shoot.
As soon as he saw the ball coming in, the coach exploded with joy in the technical area and celebrated a lot with the coaching staff and other players. Right after the final whistle, the entire squad ran towards Luís Guilherme and slapped him to congratulate the player.
The party extended to the locker rooms. Staff, coaching staff and players cheered and sang the song that energizes the team when they are behind the scoreboard:
With the victory, Palmeiras became the isolated leader of Group F of the Libertadores, with seven points gained, and came closer to qualifying for the round of 16.
Verdão now turns its attention to the Brazilian Championship. Next Monday, the team faces São Paulo, at 8pm, at Morumbis.
