Endrick says that Abel corrected Palmeiras at half-time and praises the coach: “He always knows what to do”
Palmeiras lost 2-0 against Independiente del Valle, in Ecuador, in the Conmebol Libertadores, but had the strength to turn around a tough confrontation at altitude. Endrick, scorer of the first goal at the end of the first half, said that Abel Ferreira was fundamental in the dressing room.
– Abel is an excellent coach, he knew how to correct the team well at halftime. We came with a different style than in the first half and it was essential for our comeback. I have nothing to describe about Abel, an excellent coach who always knows what to do – said the boy.
Palmeiras came back better for the final stage and had fundamental help from the athletes who came off the bench. Abel Ferreira fielded Lázaro, Estêvão, Luís Guilherme, Vanderlan and Flaco López.
The team grew in performance and managed to reach a draw with Lázaro, in the 35th minute. In the 49th minute, Luís Guilherme hit a beautiful shot from outside the area and achieved the turnaround that seemed unlikely. The goals were the first for players wearing the Verdão shirt.
– Here it is always difficult to play due to the altitude, you cannot press and run all the time. We have to be calm and it’s obvious that we know that Independiente is very good. We came here to win and now we go back and think about Monday’s game – commented Endrick.
With the victory, Palmeiras became the isolated leader of Group F of the Libertadores, with seven points gained, and came closer to qualifying for the round of 16.
