The Ceará Court decided convert to preventative the arrest in the act of Francisco Aurélio Rodrigues de Lima, 41, the man suspected of killing and decapitating a kitchen attendant at the Dr. José Frota Institute (IJF), in the Center, this Tuesday (23). The decision was taken at a custody hearing held by the Court of the 17th Criminal Court, this Wednesday (24).
The crime was committed inside the hospital, where Francisco Mizael Souza da Silva worked — currently, he worked as an app driver. The suspect is a former employee of the unit, fired in 2022, and was captured in the Patacas district, in Aquiraz, on the afternoon of the same day as the crime.
According to the arrest report, Francisco Aurélio shot and decapitated the victim in the kitchen of the health unit, motivated by jealousy, since the suspect’s girlfriend also worked at the hospital.
In a statement to the Police, the woman reported that she had been in a relationship with Francisco Aurélio for around a year and a half and that he felt jealous of her not only with the victim but also with other IJF employees.
Records of criminal proceedings
According to the Court of Justice of Ceará (TJCE), the fact that there are other records of criminal proceedings against the suspect, one for contempt, in progress, also weighed on the decision of judge Carla Susiany Alves de Moura, who presided over the hearing. in the Single Court of the District of Aracoiaba, and another of urgent protective measures, already archived.
The police investigation remains ongoing.

Mizael Souza da Silva was shot dead on Tuesday morning (23), inside the hospital cafeteria and decapitated. The crime suspect was arrested on the afternoon of the same day, in the district of Patacas, in Aquiraz, in the Metropolitan Region of Fortaleza. In the incident, another server was injured by a bullet, but managed to be rescued and is doing well.
