The Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, condemned this Wednesday (24) the student protests against the country that spread to university campuses in the United States.

“What is happening on U.S. campuses is horrific. Anti-Semitic mobs have taken over major universities,” said the Israeli head of government in a video message recorded in English.

For a few days now, some of the main American universities, such as Columbia, in New York, Berkeley, in California, and Yale, in Connecticut, have been the scene of protests and demonstrations against Israel due to the offensive in Gaza against the terrorist group Hamas.

Netanyahu said the demonstrations were reminiscent of “what happened at German universities in the 1930s.”

“We see this exponential rise in anti-Semitism in the US and in Western societies, as Israel tries to defend itself from genocidal terrorists, genocidal terrorists who hide behind civilians,” declared the Israeli prime minister.

Netanyahu also warned that anti-Semitic incidents often precede “larger conflicts that involve the entire world.”

Columbia University, the epicenter of protests on American campuses, reached a last-minute agreement with activists last night to limit the scope of their protests.

This agreement, which prevented police from dismantling the camp at midnight, gives campers 48 hours to limit their protest under certain terms, such as reducing the number of tents, expelling non-university activists, banning “discriminatory language” and comply with instructions from security forces.
