Kidnappers demanded R$200,000 to free American judge in Copacabana | Rio de Janeiro

A man was arrested during the action this Tuesday, carried out by a task force coordinated by the Special Tourism Support Police Station (Deat), with agents from the Anti-Kidnapping Police Station (DAS) and the 24th DP (Piedade).

The investigations started from information obtained by the Piedade police station. During diligence, the police found that the victim had received, in the morning, two call girls in the flat where he was staying. In the afternoon, they returned to the site in the company of two men.

According to the agents, the criminals surrendered the American, stole money and took him to a still unknown location. At this moment they began to demand ransom for the release of the victim.

After a few hours of investigation and negotiation, one of those involved was arrested upon returning to the Copacabana neighborhood. The victim was released by the police without payment.

The investigation continues to locate and arrest others involved in the crime.
