The band Raimundos made a mark on national rock in the late 1990s, but this rise was hampered when vocalist Rodolfo decided to leave in 2001. Guitarist Digão took over the position. Years later, drummer Fred Castro decided to leave the band. In an interview with Corridor 5, he gives his view on what happened.

“I did the 25th anniversary tour with Raimundos, it was a bit of a gamble, but it was really cool. When Rodolfo left, I was still plugged into the band. For a long time. The separation was in 2001. I left in 2007. I still believed in that connection. I didn’t want to let go of what I believed in. I thought it was still the band, but we didn’t have the chemistry like we used to. There was another chemistry. When the singer changes, the band gets that characteristic.
Rodolfo has always been a very generous person in all aspects. The vocalist will always be the one people know the most. You can’t fight with that. Rodolfo was generous enough to share this with the band. He was always my great ally in the band, not that I was at war with the other two.

When he had the cut and it was suggested that Digão sing, he was a different person. He likes being the frontman. This happened to me. I thought he was capable of leading the band as frontman, but I don’t think he’s that generous. He’s one of the best rhythm guitarists, but you don’t buy leadership in a fight. Over time, I left the band. It’s been six years, things have been happening and I’ve looked more and more towards the exit door.”
