Fred Castro, former drummer for the band Raimundos, participated in the Corredor 5 program, in an edition that aired last Tuesday (March 26). During the long conversation, led by Clemente Magalhães, Fred recalled an unusual episode: the day that tennis player Gustavo Kuerten took the stage to watch a Raimundos show.

According to Fred, Guga (the renowned athlete’s nickname) was present at a presentation that Raimundos gave at Planeta Atlântida, a festival that has been held in the southern region of Brazil since the 90s.
“I’m like that to this day. I meet someone I like and I’m shaking at the foundations, man. Guga, once, we were playing at Planeta Atlântida and he went up [no palco]. I’m here playing, without glasses, I look to the side, he’s here, man, to the side”, recalled Fred, who was probably happy, but for the good of the show, he asked that Guga be removed from the stage.
“I turned to my roadie and said: ‘Man, tell him to get out of there’. Damn, man, I’m a big fan of Guga, I really like tennis, I’m a big fan of Roger Federer too. And at that moment, Guga, Man, he was really ‘popped up’. I [estava falando] like: ‘Dude, get this guy off the stage’. But it wasn’t because… It’s because I was going to end the show, man, I was going to do something stupid.”

Gustavo Kuerten was three-time champion of the traditional Roland Garros tournament (1997, 2000 and 2001) and is considered one of the greatest Brazilian sportsmen of all time.
