Avatar director praised Denis Villeneuve’s saga.

Just when we thought it would be impossible to surpass the quality seen in Dune, Denis Villeneuve showed his skills again with an absolutely unforgettable sequence. Like its predecessor, Dune: Part 2 is a visually stunning masterpiece that enchanted – and continues to enchant – audiences and critics alike.

The film even won praise from the creator of Avatar and The Terminator, James Cameron, who told Le Figaro: “David Lynch’s adaptation was disappointing. All the power of the novel was missing. [Frank] Herbert. Villeneuve’s films are much more convincing. The characters are well developed and you can identify with them. They are pure cinema.”

It’s no surprise that Cameron, who is also passionate about innovative sci-fi cinema, is very excited about Dune. What’s interesting, however, is that the director also explains in the conversation that he maintains regular contact with Villeneuve – and their conversations are even recorded:

I talk to Denis regularly, filmmaker to filmmaker. We record our conversations, like [François] Truffaut and [Alfred] Hitchcock

In case you’re wondering what James Cameron means by this: in 1966, French director and critic François Truffaut (The Misunderstood) published the book Hitchcock/Truffaut, in which he wrote a 50-hour interview with Alfred Hitchcock (Psycho). The book is still considered one of the main works of cinematic literature today.

The first Dune de Villeneuve is available at Max. Dune: Part 2 is available to buy or rent on Prime Video.
