The film The Northman, which takes place during the Viking Age, is inspired by Norse folklore and legends. To try to bring the feeling that we are seeing what humanity was like at that time, the film’s production dedicated itself to impeccable scenography and characterizations.

In the year 914, Amleth, the prince played by Alexander Skarsgård, is about to take over the throne from his father, King Horvendill. However, the patriarch is murdered, leaving the protagonist thirsty for revenge.
“After witnessing his father’s murder at the hands of his uncle Fjör, and seeing his mother and kingdom taken by the murderer, young Prince Amleth runs away to return years later, as an adult, determined to bring justice”, says the official synopsis.

The Northman: cast and production
The great protagonist of The Northman is Alexander Skarsgård, an actor already known for productions such as The Legend of Tarzan, True Blood, Big Little Lies and for a brief participation in Succession. His most recent work is in the film Infinity Poolacting alongside Mia Goth, and in the series Mr and Mrs Smith.
The film also stars Nicole Kidman and Ethan Hawke, two great cinema veterans who need no introduction. Completing the cast is Anya Taylor-Joy (The menu, Dune: Part 2), Claes Bang (Family Evil, The Outlaws) and singer Björk.
The film was directed by Robert Eggers, who is also behind The headlight, The witch It is Nosferatua new adaptation of a 1922 classic, which should hit theaters in 2024.
