A Brazilian was rescued after being adrift in a freezer for 11 days off the coast of Suriname. The rescue took place approximately 450km from the ship’s sinking site. He was found dehydrated and with heat stroke.
According to information on the portal The Liberal, the fisherman left Oiapoque, in Amapá, towards Ilha de Macacos, in French Guiana. He was rescued by the crew of another vessel near Suriname.
Romualdo Macedo Rodrigues’ first meal was oatmeal. The incident took place on the 11th of August. He was treated as an illegal immigrant and repatriated on a flight that landed in Belém, Pará.
