A van weighing about 1.5 tons of marijuana was seized at MG-050, in Itaúna, in the Center-West of Minas, during a Civil Police operation on Wednesday (8). A drug, valued at R$3 millionleft Paraná and was destined for Belo Horizonte.
According to Civil, the van driver, 38 years oldlives in Contagem, in the metropolitan region of BH and was arrested red-handed for drug trafficking, receiving and tampering with a motor vehicle identification sign.
The team from the Division Specialized in Prevention and Investigation of Theft and Theft of Motor Vehicles (DEPIFVRA) received a report that a van, possibly tampered with, was being used to transport illicit materials, such as firearms and drugs.
Based on this information, an operation was mounted at the toll plaza in Itaúna to approach the van. According to the police, there was a car acting as a “scout”, however, he managed to escape.
The police also found that the van had false license plates, as well as tampered with chassis and glass numbers, making it a vehicle stolen on April 4 in Contagem.
