The public company Maranhão Parcerias (Mapa) launched a notice for individuals and legal entities interested in sponsoring the Fira RoboWorld Cup, considered the Robotics World Cup, which is organized by the Government of Maranhão, through the State Institute of Education, Science and Technology from Maranhão (Iema). Registration remains open until July 15, 2024.

The international competition will bring together students and teachers from various nations between the 5th and 9th of August, at Multicenter Sebrae. To date, 39 countries have confirmed their presence, in addition to delegations from other states in Brazil.

For the president of Mapa, Cassiano Pereira Junior, this is another opportunity, together with the private sector, to promote Maranhão’s potential, also in robotics.

“This is another gigantic opportunity to show all the potential that our state has. The Government of Maranhão, through Iema, managed to bring the world robotics championship, competing with other countries. With the magnitude of the event, we are looking for partners from the private sector to hold a competition that will go down in history. Our governor Carlos Brandão has spared no effort to ensure that the potential of our state, in various areas, is known to everyone,” he stated.

The competition will be divided into categories with students from primary and secondary education, in addition to higher education. The estimate, according to Iema, is that 4,500 people pass through the site daily. The Institute’s expectation is that the competition will generate around R$5 million in the local economy in several sectors, including commerce and services, such as the hotel chain, transport and restaurants.

Iema’s general director, Cricielle Muniz, highlighted the scale of the event and its educational collaboration with students. “Fira is a unique opportunity for Maranhão to show the world its potential in the area of robotics and education. We are excited about the possibility of bringing together students and teachers of different nationalities in our state, promoting the exchange of knowledge and strengthening the image of the state as a hub for innovation and technology”.

According to the notice, private partners will be able to sponsor and/or support the competition through quotas (Diamond, Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze), which vary from R$50 thousand to R$800 thousand, and which will allow them to have on the other hand, the exhibition stand, promotion of the brand during the event in all media and at the awards.
