Anitta is facing a new professional challenge: her first international tour. Fans’ expectations were high since the singer’s brief participation in Madonna’s show, held last Saturday (4), at Copacabana Beach, which made her decline the invitation to the Met Gala 2024, in New York, on Monday. fair (6). Many expected that, after the latest events, the “Girl from Rio” would bring the “Baile Funk Experience” tour to Brazil. The opening show will be on May 18th, in Mexico City, the Mexican capital.

The tour covers the artist’s latest album, “Funk Generation”, released about a month ago and available from April 26th. The album and the show offer an immersion in the Rio lifestyle. The performances will take place in different countries in North and South America and Europe, totaling 22 locations.

– I’ve never done anything like what I’m going to do now. This tour will be good for consolidating my work abroad and also for continuing to promote the funk album, which is what I want – the Rio singer told L’Officiel magazine.

After the debut in Mexico City, the tour will visit the cities of Los Angeles, Miami, Orlando, Boston, Chicago and New York, in the United States, and Toronto, Canada. It then goes to four countries in South America: Colombia (in Bogotá), Peru (in Lima), Chile (in Santiago) and Argentina (in Buenos Aires), between the 7th and 16th of June. In Europe, the artist performs in Germany (in Berlin), in the Netherlands (in Amsterdam), in England (in London), in France (in Paris), in Spain (in Ibiza, Madrid and Barcelona) and in Italy (in in Milan).

It is not Anitta’s debut on international soil, but it is the first time that she has carried out her own conceptual show across 13 countries – even more so with such a Brazilian musical proposal. The artist, however, did not include Brazil on the list.

– We are thinking about how to make it happen. It’s one thing to hold a small show like we’re doing in other countries. It’s quick, practical, and doesn’t need much planning. To do a show in Brazil, there has to be a structure, and people don’t want to pay for an experience like that. It costs a lot of money to make this happen. When it’s international, people pay millions, but when it’s Brazilian, no. We are looking at the best path for this – explained Anitta at an album launch press conference for the Brazilian press.

Anitta declines invitation to the Met Gala

As soon as they discovered that Anitta planned to perform alongside Madonna, fans were excited for the opportunity to see them singing live the feat “Faz Gostoso”, a song composed by Portuguese-Brazilian Blaya, recorded and included in the latest album by Rainha do Pop, “Madame X” (2019). The powerhouse’s admirers could not have been more frustrated: despite the controversy, the performance and interaction of the artists on stage were short – and Anitta didn’t even sing.

The fandom’s hope was that she would make a “surprise appearance” at the Met Gala in New York, where she would be one of the most talked about names after the end of Madonna’s “The Celebration Tour”. However, the interpreter passed the ball to Bruna Marquezine.

– I’ve been to the Met Gala three times. It was so good. I want to be back next year. But, this year, Madonna will do a show in Brazil, at the end of her “Celebration Tour”, on Copacabana Beach, for thousands of people – Anitta told Extra, highlighting that the performance would be a historic moment for the Rio de Janeiro.
