Coach is filmed attacking 15-year-old teenager in Minas; police investigate < No Attack

Handball coach from the city of Pompéu, in the Central Region of Minas Gerais, Francisco Júnior Corrêa Mota was filmed attacking a 15-year-old athlete. The boy then reported the technician to the Civil Police, who are now investigating the case.

According to The globe, another 13 athletes denounced Chico, as he is known, for sexual assault and harassment. He is a coach at Associação Esportes Solidários Gustavo Elias, which competes in the Minas Gerais handball championship.

The Military Police were at the scene of the attack, but the teenager had left. It is not known what motivated Francisco Júnior’s action.

The Minas Gerais Handball Federation (FMH) took a position on the case. In a statement, he stated that Chico was suspended from his role as coach for a period of 60 days. The text also states that more than 130 reports of cases of aggression involving the coach were made.

“After receiving more than 130 reports of the case of physical aggression involving the coach of Associação Esportiva Gustavo Elias – AESGE in the city of Pompéu – Francisco Júnior Corrêa Mota, and the 15-year-old GMSS athlete, the Minas Gerais Handball Federation, through its President – Luiz Fernando Andrade, initiated an Administrative Disciplinary Procedure to investigate the facts, and preventively suspended the then coach Francisco Júnior Correa Mota as a precautionary measure”, writes the note.

Last year, the coach was indicted for racial slurs against another athlete.
