Event takes place this Thursday (9) with greater participation of museums across the state

With 69 activities and participation from 37 municipalities, the 7th edition of the Noite Mineira de Museus e Bibliotecas takes place this Thursday (9). The initiative of the Government of Minas Gerais is carried out by the State Secretariat of Culture and Tourism of Minas Gerais (Secult/MG), through the Superintendency of Libraries, Museums and Economy of Creativity (SBMEC), with support from the Book, Reading Directorate , Literature and Libraries (DLLLB) and the Museums Board (Dimus). The proposal, implemented since 2022, is to extend the opening hours of cultural facilities by one day every two months until 10pm so that visitors who work or study during business hours have the opportunity to participate in activities during the week.
Within the varied program that will take place in 69 different cultural facilities, there will be storytelling, book clubs, exhibitions, open workshops, debates, mediated visits, debates and other activities. The complete program is now available at the link, with accessibility for people with visual impairments.
In this edition, the novelty is the greater participation of museums, which increased their participation by 27% compared to the last edition. Among the new participants are the Ojú Aiyê Historical Museum (Matozinhos), the AngloGold Ashanti Memory Center (Nova Lima), the São João del-Rei Regional Museum and the Chapel Museum – Dominican Sisters of Monteils (Uberaba).

Minas Gerais Night of Museums and Libraries

The Noite Mineira de Museus e Bibliotecas is a bimonthly action that aims to facilitate the articulation of networking between cultural facilities, with the aim of encouraging new activities, giving them visibility and forming new audiences, so that service is expanded. They are held in museums and libraries in all regions of Minas Gerais. The project is carried out by the State Secretariat of Culture and Tourism of Minas Gerais (Secult/MG), through the Superintendency of Libraries, Museums and Economy of Creativity, with support from the Directorate of Books, Reading, Literature and Libraries (DLLLB) and the Directorate of Museums (DIMUS).
